Purpose & Impact

In 2026, we partnered with Black Star Caravan and the Association of Women Horticulturalists of Gantumane in Guinea-Bissau, with a clear purpose: to listen, collaborate, and strengthen an ongoing community-led process.

We took part in the production of the local carnival on February 13th, 14th, and 15th, and organized the Tropical Wave festival on March 6th, 7th, and 8th, creating spaces for cultural exchange between local and international artists. Through these events, we supported a self-managed model that allows resources to be reinvested directly into the community.

This joint effort translated into concrete actions

  • Installation of a water pump
  • Strengthening of two community gardens
  • Implementation of a solar-powered irrigation system
  • Access to electricity for 30 households
  • Distribution of 600 school kits across six communities
  • Provision of essential medicines to six communities and a local health center
  • Donation of clothing, toys, four sewing machines, and fishing equipment
  • Improvement of school infrastructure and creation of a community space

A large part of these resources comes from recovered materials, demonstrating that recycling also creates opportunities.

We support key sectors such as agriculture, fishing, and local entrepreneurship, ensuring that the impact remains in the hands of the community. At the same time, we understand that development is also about culture, identity, and connection—values reflected in every gathering and artistic exchange.

Gantumane is a well-organized community with immense potential, talent, and cultural richness. For this reason, we are committed to continuing to support this process in the long term, strengthening partnerships and building sustainable opportunities together.
